thalequi.jpgThalia En Primera Fila' Deluxe Edition To Be Released Sept. 28

Sony Music Latin is planning to release a deluxe edition of "Thalia En Primera Fila," the live recording by the Mexican pop star, on Sept. 28.

The deluxe CD/DVD edition, the label's only deluxe release between now and the end of the year, will include three new tracks on the CD and a never-released documentary in the DVD. A version for the Mexican market will, in addition, also include the full live concert. A Blue-ray version of the concert will be released throughout Latin America.

Taped before a live audience in Miami last summer, "Thalía En Primera Fila" (Thalia First Row) became a comeback success story. Although Thalía is a superstar known throughout Latin America (in part due to her long career in successful soaps), her past two albums, out on EMI Latin, had sold poorly, particularly here in the United States.

But "En Primera Fila," an acoustic recording that featured a simple version of Thalía --barefoot, jean-clad and wearing little make-up -- was enthusiastically supported by Sony, her new label, and became a surprising success. This pared down Thalia struck a chord, and the CD, DVD and special CD/DVD edition for Walmart have together sold close to 90,000 copies in the United States alone since the late 2009 release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Throughout Latin America, the project in its different formats has shipped 450,000 copies, according to Sony.

"It's really our great story of the year," says Paula Kaminsky, VP of marketing for Sony Music U.S. Latin. "And it shows that a good artist always has a chance with the right project."

Thalía's sales were particularly strong in her native Mexico, where "En Primera Fila" has been on the top 5 of the Amprofon charts since March. There, the album has gone quadruple platinum, shipping 240,000 copies, according to Amprofon.

Thalía also benefited from a campaign from Dutch clothing company C&A, for whom Thalia is a spokesperson for the Mexican market. The singer is featured prominently in C&A's website, and the company's fall campaign will feature the single "Enséñame a Vivir".

Launch clothing line inspired by Thalía

Thalía is back on the fashion scene, although this time not as an inspiring designer, but as a muse for the new line

“This is a collection dedicated to my Mexico, my people. I am proud to be the driving force of inspiration that transcends and goes beyond a simple garment,” said Mexican superstar in a video screened on Tuesday night during the press presentation Netherlands online Chain Store C&A.

“This collection is a mix of trends inspired by my tours, my people, in the 90s, blending rock, the grunge, urban,” said the singer and actress.

The line, which goes on sale on Friday, will be available only in the Mexican branch of C&A.

Under the name C&A inspirado en Thalía, the autumn-winter collection includes pieces in five trends, mixing rock, grunge style and bohemian silhouettes of the 20s, 70s and 90s.

It includes pieces made in processed denim finishes, tailoring casual and romantic clothes covered with fliers, and is dominated by neutral tones, brown, brown and green. It also has floral accessories, studs and chains.

It is not the first time that the European chain bet this type of strategy. Last year we launched a collection inspired by the singer Fergie.

Thalía, who has tried her luck as a designer of a line for the U.S. chain K-Mart, only provided some ideas for the development of the new collection.

“These are harsh contrasts with trends for us powerful women, warrior leaders,” noted the former soap opera star.

The singer, who will star in the online advertising campaign, noted that it includes “detail men know that women absorb the most sexy.” Some of them are inspired by the military legacy of the 20′s to which he added “pat glamorous” as sequins and touches of silver.

thalequi.jpg"Enséñame a vivir" or "Estoy enamorada " which song will be the third single ?!?!

Various sources give conflicting information about 3 single, so we are not able to provide 100% sure which of the songs will be third single. Good news is that the third single will be issued ;)

After her successful singles Equivocada and Qué será de ti, Thalía presents her third single, one of 13 tracks (including a medley of four songs) that make up the new album called Thalía en Primera Fila.

Thalía en Primera Fila is a very selective collection of unreleased songs (including duets with the award-winning Mexican singer/songwriter Joan Sebastian, and a new rising star of Sony, Pedro Capo), covers some of the most popular Hispanic music (written by composers such as Juan Luis Guerra, Ricardo Arjona and Leonel, a former member of the group Sin Bandera) and new versions of some of the great hits of Thalía, Thalía en Primera Fila is not like any other album she has released throughout her more than two-decade career. The song Equivocada is just another example of how the public for the first time will have the opportunity to discover an unknown Thalía: no tricks, sensitive, vulnerable, only the singer, her voice and 12 musicians.

Thalía To Guest-Star In Third Season Of 'Mujeres Asesinas'

The producer Pedro Torres confirmed that the singer will star in an episode of the Mexican series Mujeres asesina.

It is a fact, Thalía will star in one of fourteen the chapters of the third season of Mujeres asesina, according to the Mexican producer of the series, now need only to look at the agenda of the singer to start recording.

“There are still nine chapters and one of them is referred to Thalía but we’ll see if we can or can not. She knows what it is, knows perfectly well, loves history, but she’s a busy woman with agendas elsewhere”, said Pedro Torres .

Thalía must have something juicy up her sleeve, because producer of the show, Pedro Torres, can’t give an exact date of her episode until they figure out when she can fit the appearance in her busy schedule:

“To Thalía and the project was offered and accepted,” said the producer Pedro Torres to the Mexican newspaper El Siglo. “But I do not know when it can for her agenda. Hopefully we can do for the month of July.”

Torres said the wife of Tommy Motolla gives great strength to the cast of this series which have passed the great figures of Mexican television.

The story that would star Thalía, moved Mexico for nearly half a century.

“It’s a story that happens in Acapulco, very interesting, on a case that rocked the Mexican society in the sixties, a surrealist painter, Señora (Sofía) Bassi,” the producer added. The singer could on TV revive the case of Sofia Bassi, whose son-in-law died in a mysterious crime of which she pleaded guilty.

Torres denied that the financial claims of the actress are too high.

“It’s not an economic problem, is a series that has a budget equal to all the actresses, that really people are doing with us is because they are very interested in the acting challenge”.

Thalia for Playboy

Almost does not like talking about politics. Thalía prefers to talk about of jeans, tennis and hairband who is now promoting Primera Fila, her first live album, that she calls her “masterpiece”.

While preferring to dodge the current issues, she never hide her sympathy for the U.S. president, Barack Obama, since he was a candidate and who just last October dance with her in the White House. “Look, I devote myself to singing and really do not like to enter politics. I feel that I have that (is to sing), but the frustration of seeing so much potential in one land, where there have been many injustices in the society and rulers, it is suddenly a wake-up call, is to open our eyes to these people”, answered the wife of music producer Tommy Mottola about what politicians should do for Mexico to regain its leadership in Latin America.

Somewhat elusive and the same tired, already suffering from the rare disease for over a year and forces her to take 30 pills a day and 5 antibiotics, and the bustle that has been implicated in recent days launched its new production, which was recorded at the Bank United Center at the University of Miami, Florida – Thalía responds to Playboy from New York, where she resides with her husband and young daughter Sabrina Sakaë.

Playboy: How is Mexico from New York?
Thalía: Uh … I do not know … Mexico is within me, Mexico is always within me wherever I go. I always have this image of my habits, people, music, of that passion is not found anywhere.

Playboy: Do you think that laws are still in Mexico are just for citizens?
Thalía: I think we should talk about Primera Fila, if you do not mind.

Playboy So tell me what the main objective of Primera Fila? When did you wanted to record your talent in live show?
Thalía: The live album was always my need, I always had that urge to do a live album with great musicians, on a small stage with compact public. I think the only purpose of this material is simply trying to unite the two Thalía: Thalía is at home, with her jeans, with her tennis, Thalía, who grasps her hair with a band in a ponytail, with little makeup, which goes to the movies with friends or eat a pizza with them. Thalía that everyday I loved the stage and giving me the opportunity to introduce myself and my audience, and they in turn gave me the opportunity to understand that one evolves, one changes, one is entitled to different horizons and in this horizon as I see myself, without so many blockbuster, without so much light, without so many explosions and fires.

Playboy: But well, actually the sensuality has been part of you. It’s not going to leave, people like to see that.
Thalía: I think they should never leave, it’s like an essence, a perfume with which one is born. But this time, when people see this new album also with DVD, Thal&iacutela will encounter a much more human, more normal. Obviously if there is a chance to be on a red carpet or in one of the charity galas to which they invite me, I will not get in jeans and tennis: that’ll give them a taste for people who want to look good dressed up, well dressed. I do not know what happens in the future in some other project, never say never, but today I want to project as I am.

Playboy: Your album Amor a la Mexicana was one of the most successful in your career, what are you waiting for Primera Fila?
Thalía: Each disc is unique and represents what was at that time, each gave me not one hundred, but the thousand percent. Each project is reflected in a piece of life of Thalía: Amor a la Mexicana, Arrasando or I Want You. I think that this album is in the best moment of my life because I’m definitely very good, well placed and whatever happens with this material, get platinum, gold or anything, on the charts or not, for me this ismy masterpiece so far.

Playboy: Do you think you’ve fallen prey to the fame?
Thalía: I just think there were times when images, costumes, shows, major productions, we deviate slightly from the main objective, which is simply communicating your stories with your voice, simply connect to the other from a deep place and leave message and let him who hears a song. I feel it’s important to be in this life is to learn from each other and what better way than through music.

Playboy: In Twitter you wrote that “no one makes you feel bad,” Who made you feel bad?
Thalía:Note that I use cyber tools to encourage people to encourage them, to not give up in order to succeed, to give them strategies on how to be positive, not bending on the negative. Every day I leave my people messages of optimism. Always good messages in my Twitter.

Playboy: But, you, someone has made you feel bad?
Thalía: Like everybody. All human suddenly feel that there is someone who makes you feel uncomfortable or bad at different stages, I imagine that the school probably all felt that way.

Playboy: In the world there is still much inequality between men and women, what you have been denied something simply because they are women?
Thalía: There are situations, there are times when it is a little visible difference, but not today, early in my career maybe. It also depends on which sectors move, how you stand to people, how much respect you give on where you place. I think it depends a lot on circumstances.

Playboy: At some point in your life have you been treated as object?
Thalía: No, never. The truth depends on the bases that you give in your house, your family, your home, of such training in your first years of life, to see how you’re going to handle and respect that people gave you.

Playboy: In your radio show it had interviewed some very important people. Is it difficult sometimes to deal with the egos of colleagues? Who are the figures you are missing an interview?
Thalía: No interview its just a talk. I am not a reporter, I am not a journalist, I’m simply a woman who likes to talk, I like others to know the history of that character that I have behind my microphones. I can not say right now who need or who wanted me, but I have learned a lot of people who have been there, all those colleagues or not colleagues who have talked bits of their lives and stories, and I really do reflect. That’s why I love my program.

Playboy: The recording industry is currently going through a difficult time, you’ve ever considered whether you want to continue or retire?
Thalía: No, definitely not. Today no one sells records, the record industry is in the worst moment in its history and experienced another culture. People are getting used to having the song you want on your phone, on your iPod or Mp3. Furthermore there are many distractions: the computer, the 900 channels on TV, etcetera. So what we must realize is that singing is just for fun, for love, for passion, to continue communicating with your public, to tell stories, not at any time by continuing to sell records.

Playboy: Would you like Sabrina to take your place?
Thalía: I wish she would a lawyer, a biologist, a doctor, an engineer, etc. This career is difficult, complex, very funny but a lot of suffering, then I wish she had something much easier, something different.

Playboy: What you missed that you do not want your daughter to miss?
Thalía: My Dad (pause) but she already has a beautiful papasote.

Playboy: Currently you are living one of the best moments of your life, personally and professionally. What Tommy Motola has benefited you?
Thalía: That is my partner in every way: spiritually, mentally, in the way of seeing life in the form of lead, economically. He became like that mirror of Thalía and strong man, the friend and the companion.

Playboy: The second child, how soon?
Thalía: For when God sends me.

Playboy: You’re 38, it has been more difficult to reach 40 than 30?
Thalía: I do not base my life on numbers, or a birth certificate or on a scale, or numbers that tell me how tall or how big my waist. I base my life on the experiences I have forged, in what I am now and what I need. I am happy, full, happy, accomplished and at the best moment of all.

Playboy: Besides being a good dancer, what other qualities you see in Obama?
Thalía: I feel that is one of the most controversial presidents in our history. There’s a lot on his plate, there are many things to resolve many conflicts, many people who want to see him engaged in his word. He has a great package this man.

05.jpgThalia's voice front and center on new album

With careers in music and acting, a syndicated weekly radio program, a TV show (on the V-Me network) and multiple lines of clothing and accessories to her name, Mexican star Thalia is much more than just a singer. But on her upcoming live album "Primera Fila," Thalia seeks to showcase her voice.

The set, Thalia's first on Sony Music Latin after years with EMI, is part of the label's "Primera Fila" (First Row) series of live recordings and features Thalia performing with a 12-piece band. "Primera Fila," which hit stores Tuesday (December 1), will be sold as both a CD and a DVD. Additionally, a 45-minute documentary will air as a special on Televisa and Univision along with some of the live performances.

Billboard: This is so different from your previous performances and recordings. Would you really have done it before?

Thalia: It wouldn't have been the same album five years ago. This album found me at a moment in my career where I've done everything. I've been a singer, a dancer, an interpreter, everything. Being a mother (of 2-year-old Sabrin) has changed my core. And also, two years ago, I contracted Lyme disease, and that broke my life structure. I had to stop and ask myself, "What do you want? What makes you happy?" It liberated me of all my preconceptions, of everything my name means. And the Thalia who spends time at home with a ponytail and who goes out for pizza in her jeans is the same person that's on that stage.

Billboard: In the documentary, you mention that your singing abilities have been questioned.

Thalia: It was amusing to share that skepticism because it's been voiced. I've sung from the most "pop" songs to deep ballads. I started my career at 7 years old, singing from town to town. I've worn every outfit imaginable, I've danced every choreography, I've been set on fire. Everything. But as a singer, I did need to interpret songs with weight and depth and structure that opened up another part of me. It doesn't mean that what I've done wasn't important, but at this very moment, I'm the person you see on "Primera Fila."

Billboard: You sold a lot of albums when the market was at its peak. Are you prepared for the lower sales of today's market?

Thalia: The album has become a promotional tool to enable you to be in contact with your fans, to continue to grow and develop your career. But if you think you're going to make money selling albums, you're on another planet. First of all, where would you buy it? Those spectacular music stores are gone. And culture has become disposable. There's no longer that culture of following an entire album. What I want to do is take this DVD -- this small stage with great musicians -- and re-create it on tour. Allow people to almost rest their elbows on the stage.

Billboard: Did you feel naked performing without the usual bells and whistles?

Thalia: You have no idea what I felt those two first rehearsal days. I was trembling, my hands were freezing. I was so nervous about being so vulnerable for the first time and having people see me as I am. But I think being so nervous allowed me to go beyond my limits. I never doubted myself, because the stage has been my school.

Billboard: You include a duet with Joan Sebastian -- written just for you -- and a duet with newcomer Pedro Capo. Was anything left off the album?

Thalia: We did everything we planned. But it's important to underscore: I prepared very hard. I took voice lessons for six months with Celine Dion's teacher. I physically prepared with a workout routine. I rehearsed the songs to death. Source: www.reuters.com

Thalía in 'El Show de Cristina'

“My guest tonight is someone very special to me. I have witnessed its growth and maturity as a woman, mother and artist. Tonight we are going to meet a Thalía as she says free. Cristina begins to an unforgettable night with Thalía.

The audience will see the maturity of Thalía as a singer presenting for the first time in her long-awaited international television comeback with their new production Thalía en Primera Fila

“It was a painful and hard to face myself and my fantasies, my fears, vulnerabilities. I wanted to break all stereotypes and perceptions. Let people see me as I am and appreciate that I can sing.” Thalía said.

Cristina took the occasion of to ask Thalía the highly publicized dance with President Obama, when the artist was recently present in a musical show at the White House in Washington and pulled him to dance. “As I walked toward the president I thought what if the Secret Service take me back or I’m gonna be arrested? If I came to his table and then invite him to dance and said ‘No!’ I’m dying of shame.”

One of the most emotional moments was when Thalía spoke of suffering and disease as more than one and a half had to take 5 antibiotics and some 30 pills a day. “You feel like life is going. Forget the money, fame and success, without health you have nothing. I was miserable.”

Among the many topics addressed in this exclusive El Show de Cristina, talked about her possible return to the soap operas in 2010, the family, how her daughter changed her life, and like everything that has passed in recent years has led her to reassess her life, and be a happier woman.

Thalía will play some of her hits and her latest single Equivocada.

Thalía en Primera Fila this coming Monday, November 30 at 10:00 PM / 9:00 PM Central on Univision.

Thalia without masks

00.jpg 02.jpg 04.jpg 07.jpg

Thalia 'Primera Fila', the second in a series of concerts from Sony Music Latin and first row that began last year with Vicente Fernandez, shows a woman much more natural, honest and vulnerable of what the public has hitherto imagined.

Just dressed in jeans, white shirt and tennis, with her hair in a ponytail and makeup to a minimum, the Mexican superstar focuses exclusively on music and nothing else, playing 15 songs live in the company of 12 musicians and the special participation of Joan Sebastian and fellow Puerto Rican Pedro Capo.

'This production came at an important moment of my life, great strength, with much passion,'' said Thalia reporters Monday night to reach a submission to a score of fans who won tickets in a contest radio.

'It's very important for me to get back on stage,''said the artist, who was walking with her husband Tommy Mottola, dressed in a black suit jacket and trousers, black boots and pearl necklaces.

Although he has sold 25 million albums, Thalia, global icon of drama 'Maria Mercedes', 'Maria la del barrio', an analysis of her career and admits that fame, her diva image and opulence of her shows have played down the credibility of their vocal gifts.

'I was always afraid that they would see who I am vulnerable and heart in hand,'' she says in an intimate moment in her pajamas and completely free of makeup, during one of several interviews that accompany the concert.

His voice cracking and tears adds that wants to sing like the girl who once was, that he played openly and honestly in the mirror.

`'Primera Fila" goes on sale Dec. 1. The concert was recorded on July 30 at the BankUnited Center at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida, where the singer delighted fans with 15 tracks of great Latin American composers, including ``Cuando te beso'' Juan Luis Guerra and ``Qué será de ti'' Roberto Carlos.

It offers a strong interpretation of 'Equivocada', her new single written by Mario Domm Camila group and sings 'Con la duda' in his legendary compatriot Joan Sebastian, who introduced the topic by saying anyone with doubts that Thalia sings, `` Thalia sings and makes it beautiful.''

`` I had never been so nervous,''she said backstage just before going on stage.

But without accessories or sequins to Thalia's voice did not tremble. Certainly does provide one of the most mature performances in his career has offered.

At the White House, a Celebration of Latin Music

01.jpg 03.jpg 06.jpg 11.jpg

Coalition-building came with dance steps, sequins and plenty of rhythm at Fiesta Latina, a concert held Tuesday night in a tent on the South Lawn of the White House as part of the White House Music Series. From the open tent, the White House was the performers’ backdrop.

Gloria Estefan, Marc Anthony, José Feliciano, Los Lobos, the New York bachata band Aventura, the Mexican singer Thalía, the reggaetón singer Tito El Bambino and the percussionist Pete Escovedo each performed a song or two, sharing a backup band led by Sheila E., Mr. Escovedo’s daughter.

Most of the musicians were Americans, but they had roots in Cuba, Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. The program featured a deliberately chosen, international assortment of styles: the salsa and Latin pop passionately belted by Mr. Anthony, cumbia and Chicano rock and roll from Los Lobos, Dominican bachata, Spanish classical music.

“Although Latin music takes many forms, the spirit of diversity also unifies us,”
President Obama said in an opening speech.

“Fiesta Latina” is to be telecast Thursday on
PBS stations as part of the series “In Performance at the White House.” It is also to be shown Sunday on the Telemundo network and Dec. 25 on the V-me channel.

“Even though it’s constantly evolving, Latin music speaks to us all in a language we can understand about hope and joy, sorrow and pain, friendship and love,” Mr. Obama said. “It moves us, and it attempts to make us move a little bit ourselves.”

The musicians took him up on that. As Thalía sang “Amor a la Mexicana” (“Love Mexican Style”), she stepped off the stage to beckon Mr. Obama to dance, thanking Michelle Obama for letting him join her. Beaming at his moves, she approvingly said, “Macho.” [more] ...

Thalía Finally Returns

Thalía is back. The 38-year-old singer may have taken some time off to be a mom but she never forgot her fans. Her upcoming acoustic CD/DVD, Primera Fila, shows a different, more casual side to the Mexican pop star. And if you’re wondering if her voice can stand up to the new material, listen to “Equivocada,” the first release from the record and decide for yourself (song is below). I recently caught up with artist to talk about her work:

How is the new album different from your previous work?
This album was entirely recorded and filmed live. The intention was to make the audience feel like they were in “Primera Fila,” in a setting in which they could feel and relate to the intimacy of the interpretation of each of the songs. It is a project that made me prove myself in many different aspects; it has been one of the biggest challenges of my career.

Do you have a favorite new song? What is it about?
All of them, of course, are incredible and special to me! But, if I have to choose my favorite, then, that would be “Como.” I wrote it with Leonel, of Sin Bandera. In its lyrics I talk about a moment in my life in which I was feeling disconnected from myself and I did not know how to get in touch with my heart and my soul. That is how I think of the song when I sing it, but in reality, it totally is a romantic song that depicts a love story.

What covers are you doing? How did you choose them
I chose to do covers of songs that I have always loved, such as “Que Será De Ti,” which I heard for the first time coming out [from] the great voice of Roberto Carlos and “Cuando Te Beso,” of Juan Luis Guerra, amongst others. All of the chosen covers were included in the recording because of the substance of their lyrics, and because they really reverberate within my soul, not only as an interpreter, but also as a listener.

Why did you decide to record/film a live album?
There was always a need for me to do it, but I never had the right backup to be able to plan it well. It just so happened that almost two years ago I found the perfect companions to join me on this adventure. Since then, we have been working on the selection of songs that represent me musically and as an artist…songs that allowed me to break through all of the stigmas and stereotypes and also allowed me to start fresh and revitalized.

Will it include your duet with Joan Sebastian? How was it working with him?
Yes, of course it will be included! The duet with Joan Sebastian was one of the best surprises for me. When Joan found out about my project, he appeared with all of his heavy cavalry, and wrote a song for me to sing with him. The song is so sticky and guapachosa that is impossible to take your mind off it!

How did you enjoy reconnecting with fans during the live taping?
I was really nervous! Each and every bone in my body was trembling! I spent several years away from the stage, because of a personal decision to dedicate myself to being a mom, the grandest blessing in my life. I also took time off due to health reasons, to combat a complex illness. Therefore, when I returned to the stage, all prepared, ready and loving this new project, I was nervous, happy nervous. I was so excited to see all of those fans that came from all over the US and from different parts of the world!
